Any chance of more power from a mk5 2.5td?

Any chance of more power on these? Being 2880kgs ulw and about 3300 in current spec the 100bhp has to go quite far. Is there any easy ways of getting power, or making sure its producing as much as it should?

100PS should be powerful enough
Check the wheels aren't binding and that your tyre pressures are correct

Binding? Rubbing together? I will have to check the pressures but they are not bulging too much. I did an oil change and air filter change on Saturday, that helped a lot. Definitely much perkier now - the air filter itself was really clogged up.

I don't think I can get a tuning box for mine, can I? It's carb isn't it?

What's the EGR bypass that I keep reading about, does that apply to my van?

I read that if you do the EGR bypass on the Turbo engines the ECU will make the engine management light come on as if there is a fault, fine to do on non Turbo engines tho

no it don,t come, just blank it or if it is closed pull vac pipe off.

Blank it off properly, pulling the pipe off will cause it to log a fault every time you start it.

Epic as in Epic fuel pumps? I've looked on Tunit's website and it looks like I can get a tuning box to get it from 100bhp > 120bhp and 185lb/ft > 215lb/ft. £422 though, so that's pretty steep.

Think it'd be worth it? Being a bus the gearing is pretty low, so I don't think I'd see any extra speed, just more grunt throughout.

Also, I guess this will reduce reliability...?

more power does not mean more speed , just qucker to get there

the revs need to go up or the gearing in the diff changed to make the bus go faster top end

total re-engineered pump and engine to make more revs safely so another diff is the way to go

or change to petrol engine to get more revs

I think changing the diff sounds a bit extreme for me, considering the bus is fine as it is. But... is it literally just a case of changing the diff to make it rev lower, hence potentially increasing top speed/economy? Do all transit diffs fit all transits? My bus is a six wheeler.

I was thinking that more power would deal with hills better, which is why I was asking in this thread, but can you change the diff easily to get more speed?

The fuel pump looks like it's very new, is it a lot shinier and cleaner than the rest of the engine.

i sold one of the tunit boxs on hear for that spec i think it went for £150.00..? , and yes they are over priced
