well just got back off the easter break
been to the isle of wight for a few days

took the tranny with the kids, dog and bro'

so have now done 200 miles in the van with the new engine and all is fine
just one problem i have to sort out and that is:-
after a blast at tick over it stalls
this is an easy fix by overriding the ecu control
just got to get round to doing it

pull off the iscv? then wind in the idle control till you have the correct rpm them reconnect

Thats the counter sunk screw on the side of the throttle body yes

on Friday night she broke down on me just as i was about to pull away from my house for a bank holiday get away.

i lost the clutch
had a quick look underneath and the cable is intact.
looked into the box and can see the pressure plate moving when the clutch pedal is operated.
and she still starts when in neutral.
so will have to get the box out and have a look see whats going on

I'd lay odds-on the centre has ripped out of the clutch friction plate

Most ford input shafts are the same splines if that helps

could this have been the problems you "thought" was the gearbox

was the clutch new tony

Was it aligned 100% in the first place?

They have a tendancy to go one bit at a time, causing a flapping noise combined with a vibration when realeasing the clutch, and its normally caused by either miss-alignment or the clutch springs/fingers being lose.

yes luke i think this could have been the noise i was hearing

with my foot on the clutch it was quiet, in neutral
release the clutch and the noise was there with slight vibration

and no the clutch was second hand and i dont know the history.
but i need a cover plate from a cologne engine(2. and friction plate ?

went all of a sudden now the clutch is working, just feels very light and wont engage gears
will have to see next weekend when i can drop the gear box
