Sorted the pas leak - was the joint on the return pipe - didn't have an o ring on - i dont think it was ever ment to :? but it has now

other than that - cleaned all the crap out of the back - filled it up - all set for tomorrow 8) 8) 8)

only thing we do have is a slight water leak from where the sender is fitted (wrong thread) we'll try to sort that tomorrow morning but if not we'll just put up with it

and never did sort the starter  still held on by 1 bolt

thing is your trying to run a dizzy engine/rev counter thru coil pack clocks, just put a aftermarket counter in the place of the mondeo one inside the clocks

i was thinking about this today running about in my 2.0 pinto efi van, i counted it out on my watch away from the lights and it clocked about 19s @ about 70mph when the odo started to turn from 0.2 to 0.3. and it was fully loaded with several sheets of 18mm 8x4 mdf and plasterdbard, and a stack of carpentry and plastering tools, a 12" double bevel chop saw, and a dozen bags of rubbish from the last job!

not very accurate i'll admit, but still, another 100bhp (150?) from the cossies should surely be worth more than 1.5s and 15mph :?

maybe its just gearing not suiting the engines......i wonder what your overall gearing is in each gear?

is the diesel box different to the petrol one? are the ratios longer to suit the shorter rev range of the diesel? im assuming the donor vans were oil burners as they are far more common.

from the speedo (again not very accurate) mine seems to be

1st 5mph/1000rpm (26mph @ 5250 redline)

2nd 10mph/1000rpm (53mph @ redline)

3rd 15mph/1000rpm (79mph @ redline)

4th 20mph/1000rpm (105mph @ redline) - but realistically it will only do 95 as its screaming its tits off

5th 27mph/1000rpm (142mph @ redline) - have seen 115mph on a few occasions, but realistic indicated max is 100-105 on a flat road.

this van was built on a petrol and has the gearing from it :D

speaking to stu today he thinks it was down on power and got worse as the day progressed - think it might be loosing pressure from the dump valve as you can now hear is seeping out :!:

what about the mk2?

tonys experience seems to bear out what im saying, 65 in third just seems far too short, especially for a v6. if the wheel spin in first isnt adding seconds, the extra gearchange must be!

same :D proper petrol V6 box and a 4.11 diff it was going into 4th before the line too - without a doubt getting the power down was the problem with that one :D

strange, either my observations are way out (like 25% out) or the 2.0 efi petrol set up is very different to the diesel or the v6 set ups.

i dont think my van reads that far out, at an indicated 70mph im usually in the outside lane passing most things, and at 100 only the odd car goes past....not really any different from any of my cars or bikes.
