yeah that looks tops 8) i really enjoy reading this thread alan :D

i know what kev means about grill going white - it does stand out a bit! but if you do want to keep it black what about colouring the groove down the side to match :?: just an idea but tbh you have better idea on style than me

i'd wait till you get the wheels on the extra width i think will balance it out and make it look less heavy on the front :D

as far as the tax you cant get done for no tax but you can get done for non displayment - £40 fine no points :D so worth risking it

and arnt the switches the same as mk4 :?:

The whole site is very inspirational, after reading your threads, Id love to go up the cossy route... but Im not sure if I could afford to run it, the way things are going :( Id have to go the france every week to fill up
Wheels should be on during the week, which will be cool. Took her for a spin today, quite a bit of black smoke from exhaust and seems to be holding back, I think the timing needs checking, but I dont have the tools or the knowlegde, engines arent my thing Im afraid, but will OK to get to North Weald...
Speedo is still out, something i'll play with over the next few weeks.

As for the grill, Im not sure if all the white would look too much, maybe have it painted with proper chrome paint, I will get someone to edit the picture to white, at least I can make my mind up then... Grill is off again and Im going to try and paint it again in satin.

Im not sure about the switches, I will have a look next time im out on the rounds, as you do :D

alan if you can "put up" with an auto it's a much easier conversion to do :D

this van really needs a cossy V6 power to match the looks 8)

hay alan, i must say far play and i give you 5***** for the mods you have done if it wasn't for you i dont think i would have bothered as my other half said i was mad until i should her what you have been doing and now she cant wait till i finish it of,

she kept saying dont get a transit as it looks like a picky van, but last night as we were going to bed she said its looking a lot better and not a picky van :D as pickys don mod the vans,

once again its looking well smart cant wait till its finished,

what else are you planing to do??????????????????????

Thanks spudmab, It looks better in the pictures than real life... As CH said the wheels are on, a little bit of damage to the paint around the wheel nuts etc, but I will touch them at a later date.
Whats next, new wings, arches and the bottoms of the rear doors are all on the agenda, but Im now looking for side skirts to mod to fit and a roof spoiler. Must do something with the rear end, I would like twin slot exhaust, but Im going to have to learn a thing or two about Cosworths first. Will have to get a pencil and paper out soon...

I nearly forgot to post any pictures after that great weekend at North Weald.
After chasing around the area for chrome platters, I eventually found a firm in Benfleet who would polish and plate them for £48, but after several visits to collect them, I was beginning to think they weren’t going to be ready in time for North Weald, but they were finally finished on the Friday afternoon before going away. I fitted them in the dark, as I had to go to work in the morning and leave straight for Chelmsford and then North Weald. I didn’t even get the chance to wash the van, but it wouldn’t notice anyway with all those patches on the paint... Took a load of pictures this evening after the misses and me went for a spin in the van, but the engine is running so bad now, it really needs looking at. Also looking for a MK3 4.1:1 axle, as after running up to the meeting at the weekend sounded like I was thrashing it

I’m now looking for a pair of thin side skirts to mod and give the van the same sort of drop as the front. Its a matter of looking at other cars to see what’s about. Have been seriously thinking about a Cosworth, but I want to get all the body done first, before attempting anything like this...
