Time for an update!!!

Yup, my beloved bus has been pretty-much static for a year now. At times, I forgot I owned it!

Visited it today.

I always keep the battery on charge with one of those solar-powered trickle chargers/ conditioners.
So, connected the battery up, jumped in and turned the key- it started instantly on gas, and settled down to a slightly choppy idle 8)

Was like I'd been using it every day! I warmed it up gently, checked all the tyres for pressure and when for a spin 'round the block. Was pretty much just as I left it last March.

Here's some pics of it's year-long resting place-

It's still pretty clean-looking (excuse the crappy pictures), I really really really wanna get it back on the road again!

Just gotta finish the welding, probably a days' work in all (allowing for plenty of tea breaks) :) and a few small jobs like that smashed side-window, courtesy of the local idiots.

Incidentally, if anyone has that window for sale, please contact me!!!!

Really lost the enthusiasm for it last year, work, life etc all got in the way- really hope to start again soon!

nice little bus :D dont look bad when thay clean do thay

Ta mate, it's not too bad, in other words, worth putting in a little effort to save it from the 'easy way out' ie scrapping it!

Besides, Mk3's will be as scarce as 1's and 2's before too long!

Gonna need at least one back door soon... when I opened the O/S one after it's long period of inactivity, the rubber seal stayed attatched to the van and pulled a load of rust away from the door, lol

My plan is to get a pair of rear doors that are basically straight, but rusted at the bottom.

I'm then gonna buy the Hadrian repair panels and do a (hopefully) good job!! Then I'll just swap them round :)

That way I'm not messing about outside in the wind and rain!!

You need the rubber as you could get carbon monoxide poisoning if the fumes get blown back in to the van :?

Re: I'm back!!! With a Mk3 Minibus. NOW STOLEN

Postby Boycie » Mon May 05, 2008 9:53 pm

Yup, it's been stolen.

In broad daylight at 10:30am by two blokes with a big lorry and trailer. They smashed a front quarter-light and left the remains on the floor.

I'm sure I'll never see it again, it was probably crushed straight away.

What a shame to lose a straight, low mileage original mk3.

Anyway, if you're offered any suspicious bits:-
Full LPG kit
Weber carb
6 new tyres
perfect axle/ box/ pinto/ interior etc- please let me know, it probably all went in the crusher though.

And if the person responsible is reading this, hope you get what's coming to you.

All the best, keep 'em under lock and key
David.

Yeah, it's a real good find for people stealing stuff to weigh in- lots of metal there.

The local gypsy's drive round a lot at night, I've heard them bragging in the pub that they 'weighed in six chored mota's last week' -they've probably had their eye on it for weeks. Ar$eholes.

Yeah, they approached an old girl to ask her if she could move her car becasue they were having trouble removing my bus!!!!!!

The absolute FUKCING CHEEK OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never mind they'd just smashed a window to release the handbrake

She said they just looked 'normal' and were quite polite!!
