On a long journey ...

it's as well to remember that there are parts of the UK

Image

where there is no reception of BBC Radio 4, particularly on FM. To fill in those inevitable gaps, I take along a selection of CDs

Image

from the Ordinary Van's list of favourites:

The Ordinary Van's Top Ten

(1) Blue - Joni Mitchell
(2) Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
(3) Blues Brothers - Blues Brothers (soundtrack)
(4) Deacon Blues - Steely Dan
(5) Venus in Blue Jeans - Mark Wynter
(6) Blueberry Hill - Fats Domino
(7) Blue Suede Shoes - Carl Perkins (he wrote it)
(8) Blue Moon - Bob Dylan
(9) My Blue Heaven - Norah Jones
(10) Where the Blue of the Night - Bing Crosby (get your guitars out!)

You get the idea - sensible suggestions only, if you please!

I'm still conducting my badger survey.

Is it true to say that the badger only badges TDCi vans?
In response to some more traffic on the subject of the Shift Indicator Light or SIL (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=42695), I checked the Ford 'eBrochure and Specification' from September 2009 and it's noticeable that all diesel Transits are now TDCi. If the badge was intended to indicate Transits with the TDCi option, there wouldn't be any point in it after mid-2009, when TDCi became standard.

All Mk7 diesels are TDCi, and all that I've seen have had badges.

You are right, of course. I wasn't paying attention when I first read the brochure in 2006. Another theory bites the dust ...

In the last week I've seen several 60 plate Transits with TDCi badge.

But how many without ...? I'm beginning to think that the dealers in the Perth area are fitting the badges themselves because they expect you to complain if you don't have one!

I will be playing the Transitspotting game again this weekend, and it will be easier with an observer on board. It will pass the time, along with old favourites such as 'I spy' and 'how many yellow cars can you count in 15 minutes?' Colouring books, crayons and magnetic chess will also be available.

Thanks to magneticchessset.org for the image. Who would have thought there could be a web site for magnetic chess players? One of these days, there may even be one for van owners, but personally, I don't see it catching on.
