the van will DEFINATLY be getting a full waxoiling i'm just waiting for the weather to warm a bit, the van hasn't moved the whole winter so no driving around untll all the salt has gone

getting used to this woodworking lark at least ive found a use for all the drill bits i couldn't be arsed to sharpen i'm pritty chuffed with all the joints etc. but you still find things you wish you'd done differently - like the right side bed runner i cut it square at the end and the joint is an angle, you can see what i mean in the last 2 pics

the bit at the end needs cutting - i deliberatly left it long till i got the angle 100% i think i'll be able to cut it off in situ with the jigsaw (i need to go borrow it).
i was origanally going to have the wall behind the rear seat tilting back to make it more comftable to sit on but i think most of the time the seat will be used for eating at the table so i made it vertical - makes it easier to build aswell


close up of the joint - all bolted in as this needs to hold the weight of the bed and although it's designed for a child i want it to be able to hold an adult as it's 6' long i had to recess the bolts as the wall board will be fastened flush to that bit


the pics from the back show the storage area under the bed - one of the main advantaged to this layout plenty of storage space

it looks like its not straight as its not bolted at the top yet - when it's done it will be right

just added a support to the left side bed runner and a cross brace on the access part, still got a few more bits to fit but i'm really in need of some board - problem is i dont know what style to go for i was hoping to get som cupboards from a caravan then board the van to match

slowing down a bit now

1st pic is an insulation board (trial piece) cut to fit behind the panelling the idea is to fill every flat space with these and the awkward spaces with expanding foam



last pics are the back wall - it needs to taper in due to the hinges loads of awkward angles on the older vans i seem to spend more time looking and thinking that actually doing anything




the idea is to line the toilet/shower room with white acrylic sheet - years back i had a job lining out a meat factory with sheets and its the saem stuff i want to use now - i just havent found a supplier yet

my old mk6 swb was lined in white acrylic sheet! just sat in my garage now if you were a little closer you could have it

didnt get much done today



just the back bit - some battings screwed on
the idea is the board will overlap so i only have to cut 2 edges neat, the rest can be approximate as you dont see it , and if i mess up the neat edge i'll have plenty to play with
well thats the idea anyway

and also on the tapered bit i plan to have a light

This is all coming along just so neat and professional, my compliments to you I have to keep reminding myself that this is a 40 year old van it is soooo clean and minty fresh
