I agree with Mutts. Jono you do like to tinker dont you. Somtimes its best to just fix things that are ACTUALLY broken!!

Thanks chaps...i do discuss the stuff i do with mvm and have a plan of attack. The stuff we have done has been (hopefully) logical. All the oil seals we have done were shot, im just running out of resources at the mom and time to go away is looming :( how complicated is this next seal? And where does it sit? The pics on the net arent that useful...puks meant to be in suffolk next weekend and maldon classic the weekend after...

Im also not sure whether fixing the seals is chasing the oil pressure to the next weakest point. I cleaned off an awful lot of caked oil last week...

If its not actually p1ssing out I would keep a close eye on the oil and do it if it gets much worse, or when you have less use for the van. You can get get oil on the clutch though, making it judder.

Thanks Fred, i have thought alot about what you said. I dint think i have been wrong in the works but changing the main rear seal (now im a you tube expert) may have been better done when we changed the gearbox. But hey, who knew and whats done is done, although this may help someone else.

That said, yes, its quite alot of oil and not pretty so i will have to do something pretty quickly. My only fear is that we do this one and the next one goes.

We are saving the front seals for a timing belt change and front service maybe end of this year, beginning of next.

Are there any other bits engine side (gearbox side is good) its worth considering if i can get this arranged with the chief engineer?

Experience tells me that oil leaks are a long job if you keep doing them one at a time. Best to take engine out and replace all seals, also check oil pressure relief vave in cas its buggered and excess oil pressure is your problem. I dont mind helping you for tea and food, you supply the crane and the bits  :)

Hey CE...thats exactly where we are. Chief engineer directed the engine removal and gaskets and seal replacements. Yer man Robbie Cee stepped up big time with the kit...(due respect big man)

The only problem was 2 hours trying to get the bottom cog off broke the alloy oil seal cover. So we're hoping on a quick replacement from The Mutts. Was funny trying everyone we both know, thanks Mutts and Ralph and robbie and capt hook for answering the phone. Sadly couldnt get Diesel head which was a shame...Tim hope youre ok with the 28 missed calls :) :)

This was campernaut keeping us company at 11pm while we cleared down
