Replacing floor on 190 LWB

The more I chopped back, the more rot I found!

I found a front end bump 1998 SWB in a local scrap yard, measuring it up, i found the rear end was the same (There's an extra floor section in the middle on the LWB.
It took most of a day to chop out the floor with a hammer and chisel, then I drilled off all the spot welds ready to weld it in on original seams. Not a fun job!

My wife couldn't resist taking this shot!

Today, 'new' floor in but not welded up yet

Finished all the welding work,replaced all the brake pipes, a tyre,a new windscreen and made everything work. Quick clean and polish and finally off for MOT today. It failed on a little bit of rot I missed on the near side inner wing and inefficient handbrake. I decided to sort it out this evening (Working outside in the dark). I really need the Van for Sunday!!
Through my own stupidity, not having someone watch as I weld, I now need a wiring harness, Dashbord etc. Yep, I set fire to my own Transit with less than an hours work left. I've pulled the dash out and started cleaning up, luckily, I've manged to scrub the windscreen clean - it didn't crack.
I'll phone round for a dashboard tomorrow, I'm not going to let this beat me!

what do you weld with mig or gas

i once set my mk2 escort estate back seat on fire by welding in an arch - that was when i used to use gas, since going over to mig ive not had a problem - touch wood

I do have access to mig, tig and gas but I'm a traditionalist! I still believe Oxy Acetylene is best for strength when the metal is far from new. I'm normally careful when welding but I was very cold working outside. I guess I wasn't thinking right. It's a good job my Wife ran a hose pipe out in the nick of time. The new harness and dash are now in. Only thing left to fathom is why the oil pressure warning light no longer works. Then I'll have a look at the handbrake to see why it failed.
Not long now before I start on the fun bits - adding a second battery, fitting my tail lift etc.
