i'm in the same boat as you 2 guys :D (vandalism & kenb)

i'm still undecided as to what engine - either zetec or might go for the isuzu 1.7td or even the landrover 200tdi but i dont want to cut the bulkhead :) i'm the same not bothered about outright speed/power i just want something economical reliable and will pull ok :D

would be good if we all went for the same engine at the same time - stuff like making the mounts etc. it's easy enough to make 3 sets as 1 :D
only problem is the way i'm going i'll still be 1.7v4 while your both finished

Saab owners wave at each other!

I like those old Saab's there was a really original one would park outside mine for years until recently, i actually saw the owner and spoke with him, it was only my old physics and maths and form teacher'the bristlehound' abbreviated to 'bris' and yelled across quadrangles from pre 1975! He had the thing then too, i said i would buy it if he sells.i guess he's dead?

Accuspark this time. In the past I've used the Pertronix and Loonymission. Thought I give the Accu one a go only two wires, dead simple.

Yes, I'm actually happy using now and done a few journeys with no issues whatsoever. Drives brilliantly now (apart from the stiff steering). No offence to the previous owner, but once I got it home after buying it, I was very reluctant to take it to the end of the street as it didnt run right at all I didnt think. But all new parts such as cap, rotor, leads, air filter, and plugs plus the Accu, and it runs lovely.

ken have you filled the box with greese? this might help,it also sounds like somebody has messed with the adjuster screw in on the box, if this is in to far it will make the steering not return   oh and the kingpins are they greesed as well?

I slackened the box right off made no diffference to the stiffness. So I suspect the king pins. When it was mot'd the tester did struggle to turn the steering by hand using the road wheel even tho it was jacked up. I haven't had time to investigate that any further yet.
