just another question - if i change the rear exel to a 4.63 one do i need to change the prop aswell?

you will have to check the flange part i think there is a erly and a late type so you need a erely axle :roll: :roll:

you mean early like mk3 transit? or as in early like 86-89 - as oppsed to 90-92/3?

the flange were the 4 bolt fitting ,i think the erly ones were difrent to the later axles, :roll:

I fitted a mk2 4.63 axle in my 1970 firevan last week the prop flange mated up to the axle fine. mk2 rear shocks are a different diameter at the top

with the mk2 axle i used the mk2 rear shocks but sleeved the top mounts as the mk1 mounts are smaller.

but what if i used mk1 shocks or would they not fit on a mk2 axle?
