24v mk1 and wiring info?

Postby Ollie » Tue Dec 04, 2007 8:00 pm

Am slowing getting the bits together for me van and have just got a scorpio 24v (BOB)to add to the pile of bits! now looking at the autodata wiring diagram it looks like the autobox is driven off the main engine ECU? is this strictly correct or will it all function without the auto box attached or will it put the check light on to remind me that i've removed the thing? dito with stuff like brake position switches, and so on? otherwise it doesn't look to bad, I may keep the Pats and just leave it in a corner or possibly get the ECU reset to run free, if thats possible? I've had it done on a number of Bosch and other french ones but don't know if Ford allowed this in the architecture on the ECU?

Any help gratefully received!!

hello mate

you will find it difficult to run the bob on the original ecu due to the pats unit
would be a lot easier with after market e.g. mega squirt or emerald

have a look here

http://fordpower.org.uk/forum/index.php?act=idx

lots of info on the 24v there :D

Thanks for that have registered and browsed, still none the wiser on the gearbox inter reliance tho' - Pats doesn't bother me that much, as it works and I have both red and normal keys. An engine which is looking for a hunk of autobox which is in a skip may bother me more!

ive a feeling your right and the ecu does controll the auto box AD4Le as opposed to AD4LE (or is that the other way round)............... but im no expert on the auto boxes :?

some on fordpower have fitted the BOB engine using the BOA wiring loom :D

Thanks again, I've looked and I still don't know!! , guess if I unplug the Autobox etc whilst cars coming to bits and then try it I should get some idea if it'l still run and whether its gone into limp home -Maybe time to look for an aftermarket ECU or make a megasquirt, or even buy a dead BOA for its electronics.

if you fit the boa loom to the bob you will need to an rpm switch to operate to vis unit on the inlet manifold :(
