Hi, All. Will all the running gear from a Mk4 fit in to a Mk1 with a diesel front? DEREK

I think the Mk4 has IFS, so it can be fitted but it's a bit of work. The engine will fit easily with the right mounts, and so will the box as long as you have the crossmember and cut a new hole in the floor for the gearleaver if it's an MT75 5 speed. You also need the prop shaft.

derek - it's not a strait forward fit mk4 has rack and pinion steering and ifs is indipendant front suspention!

just fit the Di and box

Independent Front Suspension. The Mk1 and Mk2 had a beam axle up front. The two are totally different.

how do you know how many ifs mk1's do you know of that have sold the only one i know sold for more becasue it was ifs

Well that won't be too difficult to fit, the floor would need cutting for the MT75 though, and I think you will need to grind off the old gearbox mounts as the MT fits using a crossmember.
