no power

hi i hope someone can help me please
i bought a transit luton that had been stood for a while put a new back on it
paid to have cambelt new oil, filters etc inc fuel all done moted etc
have tried to use it but it has no power at all. the back is lightweight so no probs there
asked the garage and they say they can see no reason why but it wont do more than 40mph on the stright
the vehicle is a 98 model and i think it is the bosch pump that cant be turned up but not 100%
any ideas?

just went stright through a mot so brakes should be ok and it does not smoke at all and starts 1st turn just no go at all

if its not the timing, its possable it may be dragging in air to the fuel line somewhere?....my last car had a similier problem and it turned out to be 2 pinholes in the fuel line on top of the diesel tank.....is the acceleration ok...does it drive lumpy?

it will accelerate ok to 25mph then its real slow if i can get up to 40 ish mph when on the flat i have to change down to stay at that speed

did you drive it before the cambelt was done? does it stall?... i would check the timing 1st because thats the obviouse... then once you know the timing is spot on , start on the fuel system either a blockage or dragging in air from somewhere ....if you get a small clear inline fuel filter and put it before the original filter you can see if there are any air bubbles travelling in the pipe....run the van for 5 mins then look for bubbles...but make sure all the fuel line clips are tight and the fuel lines themselves are in good condition at the ends....i hope this helps

Torque piston maybe stuck in its sleeve quite common when they have been laid up for a while. try searching torque sleeve. youll have to take out the piston and give it a buff up

Not if the torque sleeve is stuck it won't. Have to agree with Alan with this.

Other possiblity is the govenor sleeve is sticking and not moving up to cover the bleed off ports at higher revs.

Does it accelerate OK and then just stop? or is it dead slow (a relative term I know ) up to your 25ish?
