Ah, that will be because of the decrease in sheep related accidents due to the new 20mph speed limit (they can run faster than that!)

What was wrong with the old set up where you could just spin off the old cartridge filter and replace it in minutes?! It took me an hour and a half to change mine, most of that time was undoing the filter housing - without the special tool. Some of the vertical pieces of plastic were missing presumed sheared off in the attempt to try and replace the filter. These things are stuck on solid so no wonder they are an absolute pig to get off oh an don't forget the mess even with a towel and a having drained most of the diesel. I managed to use a strap wrench and then a flat metal bar to tap the filter round to line up the marks where it would release.
This is a service item and should have been made much easier to swap out, the pre-2011 were easy, I think the Mk8 uses the same set up. Thankfully on ebay you can buy a new housing with filter for £30, I'll do that next time but what a faff. You live and learn.

They only supply full ranger front shafts complete, of which the shaft and outer CV are no use to me.
I may have to bite the bullet and buy a full shaft to see if the inner CVs fit the OEM spline.
You could of got a universal stretchy one and just lube it up and slide it over the outer CVloot wrote:Airthies wrote:Pita trying to find inner CV joints but no-one supplies them separately.

My brother ended up buying a whole drivers drive shaft just for the cv boot
