Temprature sender help please

My temprature gage doesn't work so rang for they sold me this part http://instagr.am/p/T8XIiMiobJ/

Now they told me it goes next to rocket cover on right hand side but it doesn't the one on mine looks like this http://instagr.am/p/T8Xf-XiobQ/

Or am I being thick :/

the cht or cylinder head temp sensor is located on the right hand side of the engine below the black oil catch tank which you will have to remove to see it just above the top of the gearbox bell housing between the 2 top bell housing bolts

I stripped it down and couldn't get it out as none of my tools would fit! Is that defo the correct one for temprature gauge ?

I'm pretty sure that the CHT sensor only feeds data to the ECU, the sensor for the gauge is different :?

The first pic is the cht.

The 2nd pick is tha air intake temperature sensor normally found on earlier mk6 2.4 egr valves with separate MAP sensor.
The PCM uses the cht readings for itself and sends a signal to the cluster, so the cluster gauge isn't as precise immediately.

Normally have to cut the wire at the top and use a 15mm socket, or if you may need to use it again will have to cut a slot on a 15mm ring spanner.

Cheers WH, I couldn't understand why there was no separate water temp sensor for the gauge :oops: :roll:
