Transit Connect Wheels HELP & Advice Please

Postby waynerp » Sat Sep 29, 2012 10:33 am

Hi All

I have a 53 SWB connect.
i have just bought some 2nd hand Renault Laguna 17" wheels to replace the standard wheels as they are rusted and shot.
Being a novice on this type of thing i had a look on the forum and it seemed the only numbers/ dimensions i needed for wheels is the PCD which is 5 x 108, which is what they are for the renault wheels.
i have just tried to fit them and it looks like the centre circular fitting is slightly to small on the renault alloys to fit. i haven't tried to push it on with any force as the vans only on a car jack.
Is there any other dimension that i need to look for ? should these wheels fit with a bit of force, or is there only certain models of wheel that will fit?
any suggestions or advice would be VERY much appreciated.
Thanks
wayner

You should also check the offset of the Renault wheels. It's the distance from the centre of the wheel in to the outer edge I think. There might be an "ET" number stamped on the back of the wheel. Et45 is the ideal offset if I remember correctly. I wouldn't force the wheels on either as if you don't get them sitting flat then it will cause problems.

Prety sure I have seen and read that Lagunna wheels will fit was going to get a set for mine as they were a lot cheaper and not so sought after as ford wheels and I liked the BBS style they did . But picked up a set of mondeo alloys for a good price in the end .
Someone may come along on here and confirm if they will fit shortly

Have you checked there is any corrosion around the lip of the alloy? that could be stopping it from seating correctly ?

yes i gave it a light sanding before putting on as there was some corrosion, but it is as g-man said that the wheel centre's are 60mm for the laguna and connect is 63.4mm.
i'm sure they could be bored out, as its only 3.4mm but think that will cost more than the wheels!!

Fit a 5mm spacer.any bigger may need longer wheel studs

The correct numbers are
5x108 pcd et52.5
If running 18" then 7.5j 8j fit fine as well

You need hubcentric spacers. If you just fit plain spacers, all the weight of the car, plus cornering etc, will be taken by the wheel studs and not the locating spigot on the wheel.
