2.0 euro6 gearing verses 2.2 euro5

Postby aln101tf » Thu Oct 02, 2025 12:02 am

Hello all,
Reluctantly about to replace my 2013 Tourneo with the more recent model, adblue, wet belts, etc !*?*! Probably about 2020 ish.
My 2.2 had really long gearing (which I changed) and I'm wondering whether the 2.0 euro6 has the same ridiculous gearing, or did Ford fix this?
Searched, but only found one comment that it was pretty long.
thanks, Alan

Thanks for that.
Can't remember my own ratios now. Over sixties syndrome !
I was really looking for someone to post their revs verses speed in top.
Just drove a friends 2.0 auto today, and I only counted six gears. It was at about 1800 revs at 60, which was a nice surprise. At least Ford got that right.

............ or maybe 110 views by people who like reading posts for the information, but don't have the same setup, in order to give a useful answer

My Euro 4 5 speed Mk7 does 26mph per 1000 revs in top gear, but that information is of no use to the OP :|

Those manual ratios / speeds don't look right. 43mph at 1800 rpm in 6th ??? How did you calculate those ?

Just had a short spin in a ecoblue custom van last night. It was on 1500 revs at 60 which is pretty similar to my early custom.
It wasn't really interested below 1500 either which also sounds familiar. Damn!

Here's the gearing for Euro6 with different FD options:

And here's the same for Euro5:

And here are the revs @ 100 km/h in 6th gear with 235/65R16 tyres on a 2022 Custom 300:

I tried various online calculators and the table shown above.
But they all indicate that to reach 100km/h, the engine should be at about 2100 rpm (not 1800 rpm as shown in the photo).
2022 Custom 300 (Euro 6)
235/65R16 (= outer diameter 28"/711mm)

6th 0.683
final drive 4.19
2100 rpm
=98 km/h/61 mph

Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT
Sorry, I made a mistake!
The following are correct: 3 manual transmission options available for Euro6 engine (2.0 ECOBLUE) + 6th gear + 235/65R16

Final Drive 4.19 → ≈ 1,552 RPM
Final Drive 4.43 → ≈ 1,663 RPM
Final Drive 4.93 → ≈ 1,760 RPM (I believe this is the case shown in the photo)

You're right, something doesn't add up with the ratios.

The ratios are from BEMM. Tried different calculations and they don't correlate with the actual rpms of my Custom. Oh well :o

I edited the message, now it's correct, I hope!

P.S.

Is 4th gear shorter than 5th gear?
3th 1.121
4th 0.780
5th 0.844

6th 0.683

This Ford document (seems to) confirm that the my2024 Custom has the same gear spacing, but with final drive in a single 4.93 configuration (only used in over310 versions in the past)
