1970 SWB panel van

Postby gmac » Tue Jan 09, 2007 11:16 pm

It's arrived ...

Gonna start ordering panels tomorrow, and get the engine rebuild organised.

It's not too bad really. Alot more solid than it could be, considering it's been in a barn for 16 yrs. Must have been a pretty dry one.

Needs wings, rear arches, and sills, bottoms of rear doors remaking, and the driver's seat re-trimming. Not too bad really, although I haven't been underneath it yet  Saving that till Saturday
:D

I love it

I have pm'd transitgeoff twice to ask for his help, but he does not reply :(

Where would I look for new rear door skins ? ebay only, or is there somewhere else ?

I will be ringing old ford parts store tomorrow, but they don't list any.

I bet she's not that bad underneath! They built em of thicker metal in the 70s.

Well I've just been underneath it, and it's pretty sound. A bit of rust on the riggers, but nothing serious.

The real stunner is, that after attaching a battery pack to the leads, cleaning the points and tipping a bit of petrol down the carb - IT RAN

Not for too long, but long enough, and all the lights etc work too 8)
