im going to use this insulation on top of my plyboard floor then i am going to lay laminate floor straight ontop of this insulation, has anyone got any reasons why i should'nt do this, just wanted to check in with you guys before parting with cash

Went for it anyway, used the thin cheap laminate flooring underlay, thin foam type stuff then used the thermal foil bubble wrap stuff as above, test fitted some flooring for now

won`t the bubbles pop and you`ll lose insulation value with weight on top

What is the sq mtr of the floor, Need some laminate but its quicker to ask rather than go out and measure it up.

Well i hope not, they arnt as popable as proper bubble wrap, it is actualy for under floor aplication so fingers crossed, ive used the underlay aswell so that will help if all air bubbles burst

If you mean of the total van floor i havnt a clue so u will have to measure up lol, im only doing the area you can see so only bought 2 packs off flooring at 2.2sqm each pack

That's an interesting way of doing it but ideally I think there should be a gap between the layers to get the most out of the insulation. The way you’ve done it will reflect some heat from inside the van back into the van and reflect some heat from outside/underneath but ideally you need a gap around the insulation to act as a thermal barrier as well.

I would use the fibre board stuff myself, plus you could double it up in the ridges and re use this on your roof if you have not done it already cheers.

Do you mean ridges on the van body floor? If so its all ply lined on the floor already i just layed on top

Van insulation is a highly disputed topic, There are loads of different materials and techniques of fitting it. A lot of it is down to cost, If I had the money id have my van spray insulated. The problem is even in a recession hookers are still expensive so ill have to stick to foil.

Here here, i know a fella who has built 2 campers and they realy do look profesionaly done, he has put laminate straight down on the ply, there is no set rule about insulation, i was looking fir the correct way to do it but there is to many options as said so i just went for it, fingers crossed its ok haha
