Grinder sounds right to me...

Seeings as you've got a new panel, this is how id probably do it, depends how long my patience last
I'd mark the chassis with marker pen on the floor, just roughly, I use air grinder to find welds, but you miss some  cut rest of floor out with fine cutter disks, leaving a band over welds, I do this as its easier to lift a 1" or so strip of metal than 4 or 5" or a big section

you must be getting a feel for it by now, the point when you break through the 1st layer, press too hard you don't feel the change. Scraper chisel to lift metal up, popping them as you go (sometimes big hammer   )

You think thats bad, weve been working on a soft top Sunbeam, thousands of spots, spots, spots, bl**dy spots

i have defo reached the point of using a grinder to cut the floor out, only i hadn't thought of doing it so neatly. But i like your idea of marking the floor out and cutting it. Leaving just the thin strips will defo make things easier and speed things up.

getting a feel for the spot weld wasn't bad, the ones i was able to find popped fairly easy for the most part, and i used a hammer and chisel for the ones i had drilled off centre or what have you. But the ones i couldn't find were the nightmare. but cutting the floor out i think will defo sort the problem Thanks :D

Ben is coming to weld the floor in on Saturday, so i have to get the floor out tomorrow, and get the frame cleaned painted and under coated ready to go for Saturday morning. i'll take lots of pics of it all and post them tomorrow and Saturday 8)

i don't think putting in the new floor will be all that difficult, as long as all the bits of the old one is totally removed and cleaned ready for welding. but we'll know for sure on Saturday

Thanks Tim, it didn't go too bad at all, i think we had more problems with the welder, then we had putting the floor in. but i would say the key to getting the floor in problem free is to get rid of all the old floor cause its a good fit but a snug one :)

we still have some welding to do tomorrow to finish it off but its almost done.

we just have to drill some holes down the rails, and along the seem, so we can pool weld it, I've already started on the seem as you can see in one of the pics :)
