What to do to my connect

Postby 19powell90 » Tue May 21, 2013 5:36 pm

I have recently bought an 03 230 connect and i am looking for general things that can be added/changed to improve looks/performance.
It is my work van so will be in it daily.

I have installed a 7" screen flip out head unit.
Ordered some nice gear & handbrake gaitors.
ordered some intercooler hoses & back to black stuff of mod my transit that i saw on here.
will be getting a rhino roof rack fitted & reversing camera

just wondered what other things are generally done

advice and suggestions will be much appreciated

Swap the bottom half of the airbox for one from a mk1 focus diesel or 1.8-2.0 petrol (1998-2004reg). The stick a bit of ducting from the circular hole underneath to te front grill. Or just get the airbox and snorkel (that attaches to the front slam panel). The snorkel won't be a direct fitment to the connect slam panel but a couple of screws or cable ties will work fine.

Secondly and most definitely a must is a remap from vantuner (http://fordtransit.org/ad/redirect/29/). He's done tons of vans on here including mine and the difference is amazing. Loads more power when you want it and if driven normally the same mpg or better than the standard map.

Around the £250 mark I think if you travel to him and do it in person. I had a postal remap where you send off the ecu and then he sends it back once it's mapped. Usually takes around a week allowing for royal snail. It does mean you can't use your van though.

Do the airbox mod first as also block off the egr valve with a blanking plate (available from eBay) to stop the exhaust gas going back into the engine. There's plenty on the forum about the blanking plate.

Have you still got the "swan neck" coming out the side of the airbox? If you have take it out (which is straight forward as it pulls out with a bit of force). That will improve the breathing of the engine straight away. That swan neck extends the majority of the way across the airbox and is very restrictive.

Sorry forgot to say postal one when I had it done was £150 plus the cost of you posting it to him. He covers the cost of it posted back to you.
