Transit SWB Di... economy?!

Hi guys!

I'm pleased with my '94 SWB Transit but I'm not getting a lot of fuel ecomomy out of it!

It's a 2.5Di with the 'banana' engine.

Last tank gave me an average of 27mpg. Is this normal??
It's a mix of 'A' roads and the odd bit of round town work. Mostly either empty or carrying a light load only.

It's my first Transit... am I expecting too much?! Must say, my old Discovery TDi used a fair bit less...

Dunno about MPG but I would expect to be getting at least 350 miles to a full tank.

i get about 400 miles to a full tank but i dont think thats very good

I normally get about 400 miles doing alot of motorway driving. But with A roads and around town I would expect about 350.

I used to have a brand new 98 flareside, the best i got was 35mpg the worst was 30mpg
yours is a bigger van but i wouldnt expect any less!!

last time i checked my sierra i got 27mpg all short traffic runs so i'll forgive it!!

MrMPuk - I usually put £20 in at a go... don't really know why..!

For that, I get a pretty-average 120 miles... That's with diesel at 96.9p a litre (yup, rip-off).


I must say, it's juicier than my 220bhp Astra Turbo! (yeah I know it's lighter!)
