Hi MartynX,

Truck looks great!

I have just bought another ex RAC Mk7 exactly the same, but can't afford all of the mods you are doing.

One thing I have to sort out though is the rear axle ratio. Did the boys in Halifax change the diff in yours, or fit a new axle? Was it really expensive? There are a number of breakers advertising low mileage axles on ebay with choice of ratio for about 450. How does that compare?

Would really like a paint refurb like yours, but the budget doesn't run to it. It does look really good though and I like the interior pics so far. Any more yet? What have you actually done with your dash?

Will be coming to you for a re-map when I get the cash together.

Cheers

Hiya , cheers, ;) the diff seemed cheap at 470 fitted , I couldn't take the risk on a used one as mine wined at only 87k and generally I think breakers are lying uneducated peasants. ( KITS Cleave and North West Transits excepted , they are great !!!) how many low mileage vans can a breaker road test on the motorway prior to dismantling ? If they steal them they are not gonna be concentrating on axle noise on the way home.

The complete dash I fitted I got used from a 2012 still had clocks in it showing 13k or something as the old dash was mullered with about 20 holes.

Cheers Mate. 470 seems worth the extra for a new diff, so will probably go that way. Did they fit it while you waited?

Question is, should I go for the 3.73 you fitted or a 4.63? What's yours like towing with the new diff?

We need more pictures of your interior :D

Yes diff is done while you wait in about 2 hrs

3.73 is tall so towing i would go for 4. something , I don't tow anymore as my caravan is dead so can't say more than that;)

Not Dyno'd yet since doing the 140 conversion as have been too busy !

Cheers Brains :)

Still getting horny when I see my Mk6 though. I'll be sorry to see it go. Just done timing chain and tensioner and it's still rattling - doesn't want to leave here !

Got it done today, only took them an hour ! Talk about well oiled machine ! Had a couple of nice motors there too !

Went for the 3.73, same as yours, and it feels fine. Think it will still tow my trailer OK too, and Pete and George reckoned it would be fine.

Definitely about 1000 RPM lower now so should save some diesel money :D

Appears to be limited to 70 MPH now though, was yours the same?

Is that something you can fix in a re-map? Am saving the tokens up for a visit :)

Cheers for the recommendation Mate.

No problem ;) & Yep its a great ratio for them isn't it ?

Limiter was present on mine when I bought it, it's easily removed at time of remap or separately though :)
