Upgrading the door speakers

you get the focal ones?

9screws, from what i remember
2 in handle t25 torx
2 at bottem,t20
2 behind little round covers t20
1 behind reflector t20
1 under window switch t20
1 in the door opener handle area t20

loads of dynamat and some spacers, otherwise quite easy,
i brought the hertz speakers but dont rate them, bass is not that great even after a week or so of working them in and they are rated at 70w cont 120w peak.

you will have to reset the bounce back feature from the manual after disconnecting the windows to get the drivers one to do the total close thing.

let us know what they sound like as might change mine again!!

door card clips are quite tuff so just give it a nice pull and it will pop off

Done one side with dynomat had some issues with working out positive and negative on the speaker ford wires.

And then the adapter didn't fit. Did one side only so far so I can compare.

For a £110 pair of speakers I have to say very very very disappointed.

No bass, slightly more high end but the high end is too screechy for my liking.

The head unit is the let down in this.

I know my speakers have to bed in and they may get better but honestly at this point. I wouldn't bother with the speakers I purchased. I don't think any speaker setup will be a big improvement tbh

So am I right in thinking that unless I want to upgrade the whole system with a new head unit etc, the best mod is to Dynomat/sound deaden the doors and save my money for other (beer related) things?

I think my speaker choice was the wrong one.

I like dance music and a bit of bass.

These speakers do sound a lot better now two is in and all back together.

My advice would be to probably sound deaden the originals lol.

It lacks in Bass really and that's the main sore point!

Head unit is the weakest link here!

I have noticed on some song volume level 22-30
No difference in volume. It's the head unit struggling powering the speakers.

Has anyone added rear speakers to a DCIB? I've just had my front door speakers upgraded and sound deadened (with a slight improvement in sound), but I would like to add two rear speakers so that my children can hear music without deafening me

The fader isn't showing and I understand I need an IDS code to activate this? Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Are you sure that you didn't end up putting the positive wire to the wrong tag on one of the speakers Lack of bass is a classic symptom of "out-of phase" speakers

At first CleanSweep did look very interesting - didn't know such thing excisted! But looking it now, there's also a downside: you will lose the volume control from steering wheel (well, according to the manual it sort of works but advices to use the supplied pot for this). Also, it corrects only the frequency response errors from headunit. I'm not so sure if it is so essential in units manufactured today...? My wild guess is that the great deal of the error comes from the speakers and from the reflections of the cabin itself. Not saying that it would be totally useless, but not sure if worth of the price.
