I seen 2 wired in and they run a wire from the n/s light unit for indicator and tail lights across the back of the roof and down the rear pillar to the o/s light unit.
Both pro fitted to mk 6 vans

Sorry for the delay but here is the connection in question. Is this for the tow bar and if so can I buy a plug from somewhere?

Get a multimeter and find out if it is a trailer connector before hunting for a plug to suit it

Its the 13 pin towbar sockets that are tested on the Mot, the rest of them are only checked for security of the sockets and wiring, and to make sure that the wiring isn't damaged....

There is a relay that requires power for the towbar electrics that protects the onboard computers, as the lights on the Mk6 and Mk7 Transits are controled by can-bus (onboard computer) or something like that, and you dont want to damage the onbaord computers, as they are expensive......

I found the same connector under my mk6 DRW jumbo. Was thinking of popping by my dealers and asking.

Anyone here have the answer please?

That is the correct connector. I ended up just cutting the connector off, testing each wire to see what it was and then soldering and heat shrinking it to the corresponding wire in the towbar loom. would have been better to use the connector but I did not have time to source one.

Not particularly helpful for your question, but at least you know it is OK to cut and solder.

Hi guys, I recently have started to use my tow bar on my mk6 135t350 truck, all the electrics seem to work ok except the o/s (drivers side) indicator which when the bulb is in place on the light board it is either not working at all or on all the time whether the indicator is being used or not. I have checked the wiring on both the light board and the electric socket on the tow bar as per the euro 7pin guide on the NTTA website and I know the light board is ok as I have used it on 2 separate hire vans ( all lights working as they should ) A couple of friends have said it sounds like a bad earth but I know nothing about vehicle electrics and wouldn't know where to start and I worried I will cause more harm than good as the truck is my only works vehicle and is used 6 days a week. Any help/ pictures of what to check and where I would be very grateful of as it looks like a right mess behind the tow bar

Thanks in advance

If it looks a mess it probably is, get a new piece of cable, some insulated heat seal crimps and rewire it

Thanks for the prompt reply ake, how would I go about finding the source to the tow bar from the rear lights? I read through a few of these forum posts on here this morning and some suggest the wires run from one side or there are relays involved? Are vans wired differently from dropside tucks?

Thanks again

Follow back the wiring that's already there, if it's factory, it will run right up to the engine bay, if it's aftermarket it probably goes into the back lights, or the May have just chopped into the loom
