Here are pics of my Surf and bboard wagon conversion. It was way more work than I anticipated but I got a huge feeling of satisfaction for doing it. I'm not big into cars but I now love my van! I had wanted to get a VW but then thought - why be a sheep? And why pay 2 or 3 grand more for a van that is smaller than a transit and costs more to upkeep? I'd rather spend the money on actually surfing!
So here is my van project aimed at complete novices with the most basic of tools, like me when I started out! It can easily be followed if you're converting a normal camper.
I must add the disclaimer that I had zero experience in this and Im not a chippy, so there are probably more elegant ways to do things and Im not advocating anything. Im just saying this is what I did, it got certified and Im really happy with the results.
Things not covered in the photos are the curtains I've since installed and the removal of transit badges (hair dryer to loosen the adhesive, dental floss to cut away, sticky stuff removal to get rid of left over adhesive). Simple (thanks youtube).
Things to do: Add in fridge and leisure battery and have a killer paintjob done.
Hope you enjoy and I need to say a big thank you to http://www.marshallweb.co.uk who sold me the van and went above and beyond in their customer service. If they have a van you like, buy it from them!
I'm not on here much but feel I needed to post as I got so many ideas from past forum users. Hope you enjoy and I'll try to answer questions when Im on here.
Cheers
