Karl mcghee is your man for that :-)
Or plenty of others on here

Have you run xprog for module programming yet?
If not then do it :-)

Best guess from me would be either, toolbox, body, security, pats functions- 3 options relating to the pump and pcm. Or module reprogramming, pcm/fip.

Damn mk6 had 1 for 8 years don't you know
Ids menus are different for different vehicles :-(
Just don't touch the red button :o

So loaded IDS V86 on my new laptop as the old one didn't recognise the disks

Then Laptop can't find a driver for it

Is that because I'm using Windows 8 do you think guys :?:

Well Loot Mate,

Loaded V86 onto my old laptop, and got it working sort of.

Plugged it into the VCMII and turned on ignition then fired up IDS on the laptop. It asks for dealer type and stuff at the start which I ignore as I don't have it, and it then starts up the software.

Tried to start a session and got this:

You need to enter non Ford
00000(already there)
Uk
Then if you've licenced it it should run.

(Optional) install v86.04 then restart laptop Then run licence again then restart.
(Optional) run xprog to extend programming for 120 days * can be done at any time.
(Optional) install calibrations disk * either from v81 setup menu or in a folder called c-cd if you explore the disk or the menu doesn't work in v81. In c-cd look for setup or install file.

Run ids first time and i select non Ford * 00000 * uk.

Did everything apart from the calibration bit Loot and can't find that anywhere. As a result I now don't get the licence warning/question but it still doesn't connect to the van :?
Any ideas :?:

I'm just wondering if PCM identity has been accidently lost in the process. :?

Thanks for file Loot, will get on to it later when I finish slating

...and yes, Martyn re-mapped it a while back, so we'll see. :?

can't do anything with it at present, although I have a cheap fault code reader if I need to. :)

Well Loot, and Paul,

Installed the calibration file and then IDS would not run, said there was a database issue, so I uninstalled the whole shooting match and started from scratch.

Went through your list, ticking everything off, and then ran IDS and it worked fine :)

Got 2 green arrows when I connected the VCM :D

Plugged it into the van...............nothing :(

Tried to start a session:-

Start new session > Titan > VCM II > 12 volt vehicle >

clicked on the blue tick and got the same " The unique PCM identifier is unrecognised" message :?

So, is Paul's theory about the PCM having lost it's identity the answer, and if so, what do I do now :?:

andI thought fixing slates was a pain :)

Right I've had an emergency meeting with my technical department and the minutes from the meeting are thus.

Sounds like your ids is fine and it is connecting to the PC, go to green arrows and look at the relevant connection-middle is USB, see if it says connected (van ignition on) or available, if available then click on it to see if it connects.
Also if there is a suspect connection go to device manager and look for a USB device that has an address or looks like a network card or something.

So your ids is either connecting to the van and doesn't know what it is or it can't read the pcm.

I presume that you connect it to the van and you are not identifying the van at this stage? Usually ids will see that it is tdci /wf0xxxttffx.........
Confirm......
Etc.
Yours is just saying no pcm identifier yes?

There has been instances that the USB cable has been faulty so I recommend that you replace it to check, and/or you connect ids to another vehicle to make sure it works.
