Hello all

i installed fres windows yesterday, new IDS install V86.04+ calibration files+Patch etc
rebooted between always. Then sarted the xprog, what telled me that programming was enabled 2013/11/21 !!

So i stopped to run the xprog, and reboot+F" and clock before the date above, and now the programming works like charm. BUT still now voltage shown in reprogramming... Everything else works fine

Vmm only needed on older version iirc we have cfr now, they are for measuring injector flow etc but not needed at all for standalone vcm diagnostics or programming

Wish i could remember what i did that got me passed the 0v issue :? Thing is i have 3 vcm and 3 lots of cables so I may well have swapped something around.
It looks to me that your software seems to work but tbh if the vcm can't read the voltage then I'm starting to think you have a faulty cable or something, i recently had all my vcm working and programming and showing a voltage so I'd go with cable.
But still it doesn't help you lads out I'm afraid :-(

This is why i suggested trying Wi-Fi to see if you can bypass that part of the vcm, if any of you can get hold of 2x dwa-131 dongles and have a compatible vcm then i suggest trying it.
Can't really suggest anything else except a new usb cable and more messing with software, but i do know that knobby had his working and programming fine prior to this fault so that suggests maybe a bad solder joint or component within his vcm or a crappy cable :-(

Hi loot,

Are these still available ?
Anything else that is not to pricey that would let me do similar to an IDS ?

When I checked the links they all returned server errors from here in Australia :(

Would like to be able to do stuff myself as my friendly local Ford dealer (who let me use their IDS when needed) has been taken over with the local satellite dealership being closed.

Cheers

Ids vcm2 clones are available from a number of places but they do have varying reliability since they are Chinese.
They are fairly priced these days and do pay for themselves, but i can't say that they are guaranteed to last too long :-(

My dell mini 10 runs it fine on w7 :-)

Motorcraft do say a few laptops work but i would say that they recommend a Panasonic tough book.

Windows 8 would be avoided imo and I'd also avoid 64 bit os but others have had it running on that.
I would also recommend having a clean laptop with all drivers installed and no other crap software or antivirus etc but did have mine running with mse.

Trouble is that these will probably work for a while then have problems, if you get a new one and it doesn't work correctly from the beginning then look at another laptop/sorting the software out initially.
We are seeing vcm that look like they have been repaired and may well be second hand returns.
The best ones i had were 250 pounds when they were new but the prices have dropped dramatically so it only seems fair that it is possible that the quality may have too

I still recommend them for the mk7 and other later fords and they will pay for themselves but treat them like a wknd out on the piss.......

Hopefully you get some joy out of it but once the money is gone save up for the next 1

The non Wi-Fi 1 is 83 pounds.
No idea on the model numbers oa201(no Wi-Fi) oa277(Wi-Fi) but whether they are the same actual unit i don't know :-(
Standard models are sp177 and sp177-a/b/c/c1 etc denotes spec.
Best thing to do is email them and if they reply then that's a start, make sure they take PayPal, never pay by bank transfer etc.

If it is genuine and the licence has run out I'm not sure you can use the clone patch :-(
The serial number will probably get blacklisted.

Don't quote Me on that tho.

If you got it free then it won't matter i guess, have a try, maybe Google and see what that says, maybe the vcm can be hacked? I think i read that it can be unbricked?
The annual licence is something silly like 600 pounds, probably not worth it for the diy user.
