Twin wheeler conversion

Hi iv got a swb fwd but wanting to fit a twin wheel rear axel and front hubs. Are pickup and jumbo rear axels the same?
I think this will give a great look with a mk7 swb never seen done before.
Iv gone through most of the jobs being
Inner arches changers
Plastic outer arches
Side door mod to clear arch (off jumbo)
Diff will spin but do nothing
I'll just run outer wheels till I get new inner arches

With the front hubs I'm hoping the blank shaft will unbolt and put my driveshaft through failing this il have to use wheel trims to give it the same look.

What are you going to do about the diff hitting the floor of the van?

i'd try to get hold of the DRW arches 1st - they are very rare you might struggle

I thought with 3 leaveS on each side it will clear the floor with a fair bit? Il have to measure this tommorow and check

So if this works and I can make a swb van a 6 wheeler don't you agree it should look pretty cool? Was thinking sport kit but with the bigger rear jumbo arches and a 200ps front bumper in st blue on swb semi roof with back sat a tad high? Iv done the mk7 front and dash so I need big ideas.

What are you going to do about the diff hitting the floor of the van?

Why not just fit big fook off fat wheels to the rear? It'll look much more custom and far less like you had a diff failure and a twin wheel axle laying about. I have to say I find it amusing when twin wheels are thought of as rare and exotic....

Just different as a twin wheel swb was never made. If I keep the back end at the right hight the diff clearance is plenty, the main question I'm after is a van twin and a pickup twin the same axel?

i would be suprised if they are different (sorry cant give an exact answer)

with the diff - worst case you could remove the diff and cut the top half off the casing and box it in

The problem with that is the crownwheel throws up oil to lubricate the bearings - which support the inner edge of the halfshafts

Iv had a measure up using a tipper axel and it should be fine. If I can get 3 leaves for each side it will be more than fine and then fit bigger bump stops just for the biggest of bumps
