1971 Mk 1 Brake Vacuum Servo Unit

Postby mickey boy g » Wed May 15, 2024 12:01 pm

The eternal brake quest goes on.
I am now after a Lockheed (or similar) Vacuum Brake Servo Unit for the Mk1 Transit.
There are pics attached of the faulty one attached here.
I cannot find a part no. on this unit anywhere so searching online is a challenge.
Anyone know the part number for these units and, more importantly, where to get one?

thanks Greek, I found a very similar one to the one on your link on eBay too for £25.00 so it was worth a punt.

No reply from Lee yet Ralph.

I'm going to swap the various missing bits (i.e. non-return valve) from the one I've removed and give it a go.
The one I've bought has no retainer on the front end for the push rod so lordy knows what to do about that!

I'll keep you all informed.

*Update*
I changed both the flexi-pipes on the front brakes with new ones I ordered from Germany.
The driver's side flexi-pipe was gunked up and blocked solid with detritus from the rubber seal/grommit on the master cylinder which had disintegrated over time. This brake fluid reservoir seal was replaced when I did a complete service on the master cylinder using a £12 kit of seals and gaskets etc I bought on eBay.

I didn't have the missing parts for the random replacement servo unit that I also bought on eBay so, as I had replaced everything else in the front brake system, I thought I'd try the original servo again.

My front brakes are now working although the servo unit does feel like it's not doing it's job properly. I'll just have to go easy out there on the road until I can find a correct servo unit replacement.

No luck with that yet at my usual sources.

Help finding one would be greatly appreciated.
