1972 MK1 chassis No#??where??

im having probs finding the chassis no on my mk1? we and several mechanics looked for ages today and could not find for the life of us...

any one have any ideas on where this little sucker might be?

should be on the plate on the step - probly long gone by now!
dont think a 72 should need it for the MOT though!

I can only tell you this because of accident damage, but it should be on the chassis above the passenger side front wheel. You might have to take off the wheel and squeeze up into the arch to see the chassis on an undamged van.

Luke, checked the drivers side step and there is nothing there, will maybe see if i can scrape some old glue and junk off tonite, but doesnt appear to be there.

will check under guard tonight aswell, thanks FredTransit.

I really hope i can find it, other wise might have to stamp it myself.... :lol:

EDIT - sorry chaps, having given this some though, this might be under the front WING, so unless you are changing them, I don't think you would like my van's former owner's way of finding the chassis number. It involves Dark Side of the Moon on the eight track, a dark night , a long day (or maybe conbustable herbs) and a tipper truck.........

you need to look near were your drop arm from the steering box is and on the chassis on the otherside depending were you van was built uk or germany! germany is right hand side english i belive is left hand side! , have you not got a vin tag on any of your steps????? :?

yeh the vin tag is in the engine bay but to get this van back on road they RWC garage needs to sight the chassis no on the body of the van....

im having so much friggin trouble!!! GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Wing means fender. I've had this problem recently, luckily I had some old documents and the MOT guy just took it off those. :) I'm going to have a look for it anyway.

I thought fender was bumper. At least it is if you speak American. The wing is the panel that covers the wheel. At the front it's the whole corner between the door and bonnet.

I just went out to look for my vin I found the compliance plates there is a vin on that but do you think i can find it stamped in steel :shock:

Its got to be there some where

Im going to contact ford and ask them
Yeah i know its big green and rusty so move your Porsche before i bash it with 460 cubes of fords finest cast iron
