Latest status from the arctic is that my campervan now has no problem with the ASM.
As the local Ford workshop is only a 13 minutes drive away from where my campervan was stuck, I got lucky and had the foreman pay the campervan a visit with his Ford WDS OBDII scanner. Conclusion was that the problems was related to electric problems and no problems with mecanics or hydraulics.
His tip was to check fuses, contacts, relays and cabling. And even look for signs of rodents.
So, I bought a set of new fuses and started with fuse number 1, which happens to be the fuse for "Automatic gear shift". I have had this fuse checked before and found it working. I even did cleaning the contacts. After installing new fuse I turned on the ignition and lo and behold! No errors or flashing lamps! Took it for a short ride (3km) and everything seems fine now. Its like having a ride with a professional driver.
Rodents can not be the issue (at least!).
As I put the old fuse back again and there was still no problems, I am starting to wonder if the problem has been water or condensation in some of the cabling related to the ASM all the time. Anyway, I put the new fuse back in business.
My big cardinal error was that I did not confirm that the problem still was in place before I started changing fuses. One should ALWAYS do this, I know!!
So, for now I will have to live with this, knowing that the problem may return some day.. Next week I will take the campervan for a longer testdrive. Hopefully with no problems.
At least I have learned a lot about this campervan, and I even got my hands on the servicemanual (4000 pages! (PDF)), so it may be helpful in the future. I even loaded the whole workshopmanual up to ChatGPT and have been using it exstensivly to search the manual to find the correct information.
The foreman from the Ford workshop believed he had driven a Transit with ASM once in his lifetime(!), and he confirmed that ASM on a Transit is very rare.
It was also very sparse with information in Fords systems about this vehicle, and Ford Norway has not been willing to help. They have only told me to contact local dealers.
So my conclusion is that it is hard to get professional help with this type of vehicle.
Thanks for all help and ideas from you all!
I will update you if the status changes during the summer
