I think the Hill Start assist may not been operational for a few days, then yesterday driving at 60 mph into a very strong headwind at about 3 deg C and a bit wet, then both lights came on simultaneously. They stay on, on key on, and there's no shifting them!

This morning I connected the diagnostic kit, but no DTCs, which is baffling to say the least.

Next step will be to get under it and look for any visible evidence.

Of course, it would be interesting to know if the OP solved his issue.

Thanks for any suggestions

OP hasn't been back since April of 2022 so we'll probably never know if he sorted his issue or not..

If any fault lights have come on, there "WILL" be fault codes stored. What code reader are you using..??

Do you have twin batteries fitted..?? Have you checked the earths on the left inner wing under the PCM..??

Thanks for your reply your Lordship,

I was using a pirate Delphi system - OK for our 7.5t Iveco but maybe not for my transit

So I have loaded Forscan, and am awaiting a Vlinker OBD cable.

Yes I have Twin Batteries - one was new 4 years ago, and have noticed very slow cranking on occasion, even when warm....

If I get a chance today I will check the earth connections under the PCM. I do think you might be on to something there

Thankyou for confirming DTCs must have been set !

Update: Is this the inner left wing earth connection you were referring to?

I will try to attach my first photo on this forum! Look like its worked

I will be removing the degas bottle and headlight assembly for a more thorough investigation in the next few days.

To support this investigation I bought a new aftermarket front ABS sensor. Unfortunately its impedance is 0.450 Mohm, so a duff part. I would have gone for Ford OE but (unless I misunderstood during the phone call) they wanted £120 odd! Ridiculous in my opinion.

In hindsight, and after a further look underneath, You probably meant this one!

Not quite sure how I can electrically test this junction before I disturb it. Ideally one would measure any voltage across the joint under worst case like engine cranking.

But I will need to get the vehicle on ramps to be able to investigate it.

Hoping VLinker will arrive tomorrow and I can fire up the Forscan.

Update: Forscan revealed DTC U0422:002C

But I had already found the offside rear ABS Toothed ring detached.

Clearing the DTC put the Cluster warning lights out.

I have used Loctite 638 to retain the toothed ring. The brake disc comes with this attached. It was a Ford Service part fitted approx 3 years and fitted 3.5 years and 12,000 miles ago. I've treated the nearside one with Loctite 290, just in case.

I will report back if this fix doesn't stand the test of time.
