Cutting out

Postby Colsey25! » Sun Jan 12, 2025 12:23 pm

Hi all new here, hope you don't mind me jumping straight in with a question!
Mk 4 2004 transit tipper, served me well for some years but it is now of course starting to feel old lol! After spending alot to get it trough mot mostly welding, a new issue has randomly appeared yesterday.

It is now cutting out randomly while driving or idling, I notice m, glow plug wire has burnt through but from what I read shouldn't actually cause any issues, although we have had some -6 weather where I am which is rare.

Could any one tell.me anything to.check before I make a decision to lay.it to rest!

Appreciate any tips or.advice.

When was the fuel filter last changed?
Ignition switch can cause odd issues, and may be worth changing, just to eliminate possible problems

Whilst the burnt out wire may cause poor starting in sub zero temperatures, it shouldn't affect the running of the engine, once started.

You may do better to ask in the mk6/7 section - as 2004 is a mk6 :)
