Blend door actuator issue

Postby neilyp » Wed May 08, 2024 8:16 pm

Hi there,

My Mark 7 transit is continuously blowing hot (cold only at startup) I have replaced the blend door actuator but now when i turn the dial from cold to hot or vice versa the motor doesn’t appear to move at all.

I’m not too sure what the next stage is - i was thinking of testing the plug going into the actuator but i’m not sure what the expected values should be. I have checked the air con fuses and these all seem okay.

Any help would be appreciated

Does the actuator work when it's off the heater ? Is it new? Are the spring, arm and rod on properly

Check for blown fuse as faulty unit may have blew it, don't know what one but easy enough to check both interior fuse boxes behind glove box

I haven’t tried it off the heater but i will do that next and check.
The rod is one correctly i think - can’t see it going on any other way

Yes it’s a new actuator - spring is in the right position, the spring auto closes
the flap it seems. I am guessing that’s right

Will double check the fuses tonight and see if the motor operates when away from the heater

I put the arm on the same way it came off - it would fit any other way as far as can see

I have now tested the supply to the motor (should have done this first) and there is no power at any of the terminals.
I have checked and all ac fuses are fine as well.

What is the operating process? I’m not sure where to check for power next.

Any suggestion's?

Have you tried the relay , if I remember correctly there's one that you can swap over to try but not sure if that has anything to do with the blend door activation, think you'd need to try get wiring diagram and start tracing wires back, there's a vacuum hose that comes through the bulkhead and sometimes are perished and flat....again I don't know if this problem would cause yours , are all the little micro switches behind dashboard connected

Update - finally got time, so fitted a new heater control panel and I now have power to 1 terminal of the blend door actuator. No matter what i adjust it’s only the one terminal. The actuator still doesn't operate even when i disconnect it from the spring etc and only have the power cable connected.
Any others suggestions or a wiring diagram would be appreciated if anyone has one.

UPDATE : NOW FIXED.

I finally worked it - important thing was to get the spring on the correct way.

When the motor on the actuator runs for hot (one or the other) the motor pulls the flap closed. Once you choose the other temperature the motor goes back and the spring pulls the door closed.

I also found that part that holds the spring on can go two ways, i have pointed to the back and it all now functions correctly.

Hi I have read the above posts.all of them I have the same issue. I have changed the potentiometer (heater switch) i have changed the blend motor. Checked all the fuses and relays. I cannot see a sping anywhere. I can see a rod with a L shaped end . I'm not a mechanic. I have endoscope(to see if something is blocking the door) the whole heating system but it's still stuck on cold.anyone got an image on which way around the rod fits onto the arm.tourneo mk6 transit 2004 tdci
