Fit a Cosworth Bob to a Mk6 or Mk8 ?

Postby madmart132 » Sat Aug 23, 2025 9:04 pm

Hi I have been having issues with my Mk6 2.3 petrol Jumbo for a while now and looks like the head gasket has gone in the present engine. However I have a very low mileage Cosworth Bob engine sitting in my workshop and thinking maybe time to fit this to my van . There is a incomplete how to do on the forum for a Mk5 but don't know if anyone has fitted to a Mk6 ?
Parts I have
Cosworth Bob engine and flywheel
MT75 gearbox ( needs a different bell housing)
Parts I need
Boa ECU
Wiring loom
Bell housing for MT75 gearbox to fit Bob engine
Exhaust
Engine mounts
Clutch

Anything else needed ? Has anyone done the conversion?
Any help and/or advice would be appreciated

Or the alternative is buy a cheap mk8 with a knackered engine and replace that with the Cosworth engine etc, pretty much same swop but more electrics to worry about with the mk8

Use the mk6 (unless its rotton)

You won't get a V6 to MT75 bellhousing - as the V6s all used adaptor places to the gearbox.

If you can fabricate engine mounts, and an adaptor plate then there is no real reason you can't do the conversion keeping the mk6 gearbox?

You might need to do a bit of research to find a suitable clutch/flywheel though?

I don't - there was someone selling a BOA on FB recently and I think it had the ECU and wiring too... (not much help I know).
