2015 transit custom advice please

Postby Bigbazza123 » Fri Feb 27, 2026 7:16 am

I have got a 2015 transit custom 2.2
Had it couple weeks but noticed it’s slightly smoking
More noticeable at night with traffic behind it’s not severe but not knowing about history of the van could anyone give an idea what it can be
On cold start it smells horrible when you stand at the rear of van
Drives great no warning lights
I’m in east kent and wondering if anyone can recommend someone local to me
And if a scanner diagnosis would pick up a problem related to the smelly smoke

without scanner you are lost with these vehicles .. suggest for now, its either hole in boost pipe, common in the area of the alternator or EGR stuck open and needs servicing.

all the best.mark

Thanks for reply
I’m going to look around and get a diagnostic test see if any codes are picked up
I got advice from fords to use castrol magnatec 5w30 A5
I got some previous history for the van and it has had according to invoice
A new dpf assembly cost £710 also replaced dpf sensor cost £150
And offside and nearside drive shafts
And a high pressure and low pressure pipes I think this is power steering related think they are pipes from power steering reservoir
I am hoping the dpf assembly is the full dpf filter it says that the work was done in 2022 fingers crossed it’s a whole new part
And new egr in feb 2023 for £270
