well if you say the mk3,4&5 are the same mk then surely the mk1&2 are the same!!
similar number of changes mk1 to 2 as was in mk3 to 5!!

Look at them side on, do they not look the same? If you are telling me that the Mk1 and the Mk2 have the same profile, try fitting Mk1 wings to a Mk2 body shell. Otherwise, how come one of the members has a long running thread 'fitting a Mk5 front to my Mk3 recovery'. Doesn't that give you a clue that they are basically the same shape?

Look at them side on, do they not look the same? If you are telling me that the Mk1 and the Mk2 have the same profile, try fitting Mk1 wings to a Mk2 body shell. what constitutes a mk change?
if its a wing, front panel and bonnet change then mk2 is mk2 but then mk4 is not a mk3 as it has different wings front panel and bonnet!
but if it is they have to look different then take the porsche 911 it still looks the same as it did 30 years ago yet shares no parts what so ever!

But Mk1 wings won't fit to Mk2, the spring hangers are too far forward and would stick out of the front. So it's different on the outside and under the skin. Theoretically you can fit any 'wedgy' transit panels to any Mk of that shape, the springs won't stick out of the front. i repeat ford says there are only 4 transits.

Mk1 wings are much shorter than the Mk2, you only have to look at the bonnet (petrol) to see that.
