Hi mate,
Cant Believe it. Did they nick the bases aswell because without them the seats may aswell be a bench from a hired mess room.Theiving Fookin Ar*eholes they should be caught and strung up.Sorry for being so aggresive but these people make my blood boil when someones passion is involved and all they want is probably a few quid for a fix.
Lets catch these pricks and teach them how to grow up properly with respect for other peoples property.

Hi all,

Been down to the unit this morning.

First job was to try and get the old girl started - and even with a jump from the County nothing going. Couldn't reach far enough to turn the key and see what was happening - but could hear a solenoid type click. Got the fella next door to see where the noise was coming from while I turned the key and it was the solenoid that's attached to the battery tray support. I've had a quick look in haynes but can't find this unit - what's it called? I assume that when it operates, it sends a current to the solenoid on the starter motor itself? Anyway - assuming that, I ran a wire from the battery positive terminal and touched the other end to the small spade connection on the starter solenoid - and she turned over. Still no start though, so I tried bleeding the fuel system starting from the filter outlet - seemed clear enough - and then noticed the connector dangling loose near the fuel shut off Bingo - fired up straight away!!

Tad noisy as there's only the front section of exhaust at the moment but no neighbours to worry about at work! Took her outside and treated her to a hand wash and wax with something expensive in a green bottle. She came up an absolute treat - and looks the business I reckon. Looks like a new van in fact! In my usual efficient manner I'd forgotten to take the camera - but will get a few pics on Monday for you if you can cope with all the reflections off the gleaming paintwork!!

Next job is to sort the seats out, a new drivers window, and the exhaust. Might need a little help there getting the right one! Had a look at a couple of online catalogues the other night, and there are a million and one model choices - but I thought I'd got the right model at two different spots - yet it was showing two different systems - with different part numbers for some bits, and identical numbers for other parts of the system. If anyone can post a diagram of what it should look like that would be a help - bearing in mind that it was a 2 litre petrol until Vanmad put the Di in it if that makes a difference. Online Automotive were asking about £67 or £87 for the whole lot front to back- and Bosal were quoting around £60 for just one bit of it!

Tried the lights, indicators, horn etc - and not managed to find anything electrical that's not working. Brakes appear to work too, so hopefully should pass the MOT without a great deal of hassle.

So - a step closer to getting her out and about again!

Hiya mate,
I cant remember the last time i seen it look that good it must be about 18 months ago now.Nice to know that you have it running aswell.Keep up the good work mate and you will be on the road in no time.
Probably not the correct site for this but i will post t anyway as it is a van and a ford.This is my mark 2 escort van that i can now concentrate on whilst you get GLG back on the road.
