Clutch cable

Postby 32evo » Sun Feb 10, 2008 4:53 pm

The clutch cable on my 2.0 petrol swb is broken, can anyone tell me how to get the cable off the top of the pedal?

I dont think so, it looks as though its attached to a small red clip type thing on the pedal. I may have to take the pedal off, is this easy enough to do?

if its the arched shaped plastic piece type then the bit needs priseing out then you can spin it round and there is a metal pin about ½" long this will come out of the eye on the cable then its fairly obvious what to do :D

hope that helps - its easier to do than it is to describe

Would it be easier to take the pedal off as it looks a bit fiddly to take the cable off in situ?

no its a dead easy job - once you realise how its done :D

if you slide a screwdriver between the plastic bit and the pedal and twist it the plastic bit should come uncliped :D

then you spin it round and pull it away from the pedal and it unclips from the cable - but there is a pin left in the cable - make sure it doesnt fall out and get lost

Once it's off the gearbox end (they are usually snapped off at one end) it will easily come off the other end.
