Hi, great thread and progress Mate, Truely inspiring.

Is that a TE ghia istrument cluster in there?
i was thinking of doing it cos it looked like a close fit?

i'll be doing an engine swap on mine in February i reckon, and then My transit rescue should come along pretty quickly.

Yeah its a corty dash, the cluster bolts in but you need to change the wiring and speedo cable
If you want to do the swap you'll need

TE Cluster

Part of the TE loom

TE speedo cable

Run tach wire to coil

PM me when your ready to go and ill tell you what wire goes where
Yeah i know its big green and rusty so move your Porsche before i bash it with 460 cubes of fords finest cast iron

cool, is that a Peter werrit sigma?
i wanted one once, dont really want one now though.
havent seen a Sigma for years here now, they all probably went to scrap metal once the rego came due. like most of the cheaper cars as time goes by

Hi, I have seen the past postings of you and nice steering conversion :!: :D
Can someone tell me what will be the easiest way for fitting a power sterring to my mk2 as this conversion here I think requires many time and many refiiting??

hallo my frend welcome  the easyest conversion is to use a mk3 power box these are very hard to find now and were normaly fitted to minibuses ,you have a few mk3 buses overthere maybe you could find one and have a look how its fits !

Hi Sundowner, i've noticed most of the Aussie MK2 Transits have Falcon Style wheels fitted, could you tell me what PCD the Aussie MK2 came out with, and what disc/hub combination they run?
Cheers Steven

The aussie vans had the same 5x160 pcd as every other mk2

If you want to go the ford 5x114.3 id surgest you use the DB032 mounting kit from Castlemain rodshop in Victoria Australia

the kit allows the fitment of 286mm falcon discs and holden calipers the conversion is cheaper than rebuilding the std transit setup

Hi mate i painted the dash with automotive interior paint it comes in a pressure pack, I got it from my local spareparts store
http://www.speco.com.au/vht_vinyl.html requires no priming

It can be tricky to apply and you can end up making a real mess that you wont be able to repair
but if you take some car and do it right it will look factory and last forever

I have done this many times over the years and this is what works the best for me

Make sure you thoroughly clean the parts that are to be painted in warm soapy water and a wipe over with methelated spirits, using a hair dryer warm the peice your about to paint then apply the paint in very thin coats in a cross hatch pattern, use the hair dryer between coats to keep it warm

If the parts are dirty or cold you will end up with "fish eyes" even the oil from your skin will cause it

fish eyes
Image

If you try to get a full cover in one coat it WILL run so take your time and use the hair dryer

The clocks are from a MK4 cortina, appart from the wiring they're a direct fit up

Just a small update

Have put the engine back in the van for the last time before it gets rebuilt so i can make the headers and exhaust system

spent today mounting the volvo power steer pump to the 460 was very straight forward almost like it was ment to be there, just needed the volvo lower mount turned upside down and the hole enlarged to take the 460 bolt and the top slide mount bent! mounted the remote fluid reservoir and made a bracket to mount it to the head

Just need to get one hose cut down and another end swaged on and its done!!

No room in engine bay to mount the alternator in a good spot so im making a bracket to mount it on the 9" axle (as pictured)

Have been spending most of my time getting the Sigma (galant in the UK) ready for a car show @ the end of aug
