 the essex is is a great engine , they are easyish to work on , if you have a good one it wont give you much trouble ,and they are a grunty engine plenty of pull! i would leave it in! :) :)

bloody brilliant engine.

proberly the easiest engine to tune as well with an aftermarket stuff (if it's all still available)

one thing seriously wrong with yours though is it's in a tranny and not a mk1 capri !!

see reply to your post above!

To keep it together, here's a bit of the post -

If it's information you want, I like mine, but have an ordinary 4 speed with it, and it sounds nice but drinks a lot (don't know if the OD would help)

The old V4.Its a bit long in the tooth, promised a lot but never really delivered, makes a bit too much noise, keeps you poor and is almost impossible to get rid of.Bit like Tony Blair.
The V6 is more John Prescott, overweight,a bit of a lump, drinks like a fish and does the enviroment no good at all.Known as a grunter.

didn't meen it sounds like a diesel
more torque than BHP just like a diesel no need to rev em to get the motor moving, nice early changes will give better accel than thrashing it cos it drops off it's power band by 4500 revs :) is what i ment sorry could have made it a bit clearer
