MK1 & MK2 Transits needed

Postby BaileyMex » Mon Apr 24, 2006 12:13 pm

Hi there,

I was wondering if there are any of you in the West Sussex area that might be interested in displaying your MK1 ‘preferably’ or MK2 Transit at the launch of the NEW model Transit at the Ford Dealership I work at (Lifestyle Ford) in Horsham West Sussex??

If you would be interested please can you let me know as soon as possible as I’m trying to organise a fun day launch, I will have a Thames van and some Escort MK1/2 vans already there, but without a MK1 Transit there would be no point.

So if you have a standard looking MK1 in excellent condition and fancy having it in a Main Dealer showroom for a day, please can you contact me? :D

Regards

Colin Bailey

If you mean jealosy Geoff, no. I must have mentioned it before, I think the Mk2 mirrors shouldn't be on a mint Mk1, I know why you did it, but it does detract from the work you have done.

Fred i was on the A13 Saturday heading to Southend to collect a small ebay purchase  found myself in the outside lane flooring it,showing 9o mph on my newly calibrated speedo, mk1 mirrors wouldnt allow for that, anyway thats beside the point, these Main dealers that appear fishing for free advertising, what do we get from it :?: remember the last one when a few people went to Brighton  i think £250 is very cheep, i spend £270 A WEEK in autotrader for a tossy little add, my mk1 attracts attention as i know to well, every time i stop for fuel i end up talking to people for half an hour, anyway if they want it thats the rate irrespective of the mirrors being on the door instead of the wing, why the bitchiness :?:

 seems a very fair price to me especially as these dealers make £1000's in a week
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Not bitchy, Geoff, my opinion, which I am entitled to. It's no longer an original Mk1 if it has later exterior trim/parts on it. I couldn't get you even £250 a day, despite your doing an amazing amount of work on your van, as it isn't visually original. That's fact BTW, not being bitchy.

Yes, unless you are actually looking under the bonnet, or are fanatics like us that could tell the difference from the sound, the late engine isn't a big thing. Remember it's fanatics like us that would write in and say that the van had mirrors on it from 20 years after it was built.
