No not yet, i'll hopefully make astart on it tomorrow as long as it stays dry, but i've got to try and find two bolts to mount the bracket to the block then improvise for the pivot bolt (about 4 inches long) and the adjusting bolt, but i've got some threaded bar somewhere in the tool my shed. Should only take a few hours to rmove old rack and fit all the new components, then i'll get the tracking done on Tuesday.

All fitted now, except for the pump mounting bracket. Couldn't find any bolts to fit the holes in the block, all i had was either to big or two small, so will have to wait until tomorrow and visit my local FMD and see if they have all the bolts i need. At least if i need to orde them in i can fit the bracke/pump and resorvoir on Friday/Saturday as i don't need the van until Sunday, so it should all be done by then fingers crossed.

Right its virtually finished now, just a couple of little niggling problems.

Firstly i managed to get all the mounting bolts from my local scrap yard (Billy Bridges), but the pump mounting bracket bolts won't tighten up fully. Managed to get the top one done up nics and tight, but the bottom 2 will only go two thirds in. Have checked the threads in the block holes and they seem preety clear, at first they wouldn't seem to fit, it was as though the bolts were too big for the holes, but realised that when your lying on your back its ahrd to know if your putting the bolt in dead straight, so the gripped after ten minutes of swearing.

The only way i could get them in this far was to keep tightening then losening them untill they got where they are now. Anyone got any ideas on how to really cleant he holes out so all three tighten right up. The bracket seems secure with one done up real tight and the other two two thirds in, but i don't want the bracket falling off as i'm driving along.

Cheers

Have you tried taking the bolts right out again as it is probably bits of rust and paint stuck behind the bolt now.

Hi MrMPUK

Yea i've done that several times now, even wire brushed the bolt treads. Just ordered 3 new bolts from Fords now only cost £0.96 for all 3. My brothers suggested using a Dremmel like tool with a small wire brush head on it to get inside the holes on the block so will give that a go on Friday, i'll soak the holes in GUNK degreaser first while i go pick the bolts up and see if that helps.

Cheers

As you've got new bolts coming, use a hacksaw blade and make a slot up the slide of one of the bolts and use it like a tap to clean the threads out.

Hi Spanners

No, my Transit is a 1997 "P" reg smiley, which just bolts on with 2 bolts on the rack itself and 3 bolts holding the bracket to the block.
