The camper conversion has ground to a halt due to the dreaded rust worm  It's so bad that I've started another thread :!: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=45386

I can't get on the ramps at work to finish the welding 'till Saturday, so I've done a few more wee jobs inside :D
Fitted doors on lockers and laminated them. Carpet used on the under-side (to soften the blow when I bang my head on them

Sorted out the shelf and installed fire extinguisher Also fitted a 12v multi socket, mainly for a wee fan.

Started the flooring by laying some vinyl at the side-door entrance and fitted plastic cover on seatbelt post.

Feel like I'm on the home straight, just need to finish the welding and fit the bed :)

Now I've got a green ticket for the MOT, I've been able to continue with getting the interior finished. Yesterday and today (Tue), I managed to get the bed/seating area built and hung up the curtains. Just need to fit the carpet at the rear, then it's just the snagging list. I'll post some pics of the progress tomorow.

Here's my bed/seating at the rear of the van,the whole thing is built from 12mm ply.
I know it's heavy but I made one out of 6mm before, and went through it!!
Image

The boxes provide loads of storage space.
I had planned to have two lids on each side, but I was short of hinges, so just made one.
I'll see how we get on with them as they are, and can always cut them later if I need to.
Image
Image

I pinched the idea for the rear storage space from somewhere on this forum.
It's only accessible when the back doors are open
Image

I cut vents in the side and cut handle holes in the lids as having air circulation
helps prevent bedding feeling damp.
Image

Centre section fitted for bed. This part will also double as a removable worktop to
cover the sink unit, or it can be stored behind the drivers seat
Image

Hung the rear curtains and put the cushions in to see how they fit.
The cushions were from my old van and have been recovered.
The curtains were made by a wee wifey fae Glesga, which she made with popper tape
to fit them on caravan type rails

Here's the bed laid out

Next job is to carpet the box sides and the floor at the rear.
Nearly there now:)

Got the carpet down, it's laid on the floor with gripper & underlay, and glued to the sides.

Then I started to tidy up the outside with a tin of Rustoleum paint,
here's how it looked before...

During... the roof is still to be cleaned and 3g'd

And after.... Roof cleaned and windows tinted

Finally managed to get away for a few days down the Ayrshire coast had a great time. :D 8)
All that work has been worth it, but still came home with a "to do" list

I got the gas system checked and certified before we went away. Glad to say everything worked well, but gonna make a few wee mods now we've used the van. Just happy to be getting some use out of it at last

looks great, the carpet is a nice finishing touch. How did you find painting with the old rustoleum?

Thanks mate,
I found the Rustoleum covered amazingly well and turned out to be quite easy to use, thanks to the advise in your build thread. There's a few wee rough bits close up where I rushed the prep but well impressed with how much better the van looks 8) 8) :D
I've only done one coat as a tidy up because I'm planning new wings and arches next year, and I didn't have enough to do the back doors, but for 24 quid I'm well chuffed

Didn't have enough to do the back doors?????? Did you thin it with white white spirits? I did the entire van with less than half a tin. One thing though if you did use a whole tin it will take some time for the rust to get anywhere near it again.

Thanks ding, :)
an you're so right mate, I've been itchin' to get some work done on the van
and have a list of wee jobs that need doing on the interior.
I've also got to sort out a juddering it's developed when pulling away. :?

So with great intentions I went over to do some work in the van
but ended up playing with the sounds and drinking cider   :D

I don't know if it's my addiction to projects or the fact that bulmers pear cider was on offer at the offy

but I've gone and started this.......

Image

I've been thinkin about a twin head lamp conversion for a while and decided I'm doin it
