Dont know yet, there was no prior warning, oil is good (less than 3000 since oil and filter) The lump still runs and the oil light goes out Its only on 3 cyls though It made a banging noise first then that stopped, then it ran rough as guts I have a low miles banana to replace it with though

I wish it was just that! Trouble is, before it ran ruff there was a noise like someone banging an RSJ with a club hammer I could feel it coming up through the floor! I stopped the motor and restarted but the noise was still there I drove on to get off a dangerous bend, people on the pavement were holding their ears Then, as soon as it started the noise stopped, but it was running on 2 and a bit cyls
The gear box and clutch are due for change as I didnt have the time before. I have my new low miles lump now so I will pull lump and box and replace the lot

looks like you may be getting a bit famous, picked up a copy of classic ford magazine (bit of auto porn!!)
and hidden away near the back (page 96) is what looks suspiciously like you with another transit on the spec. Dont mention this mag to fred as there is a picture of the bullion van elsewere in it

such low mileage cant you get at ford and see if they will stand a warranty claim i mean it could hardly have finnished running in
