hello everybody my name is ed and i live in the netherlands
a few months ago if bought a ford a serie but from the start i have difficultys whit my braeks there are no parts here for it it drives me crazy i need accessboulds for the rightfrontwheel en the left without that the braeks does not function is there anywone how can help me it is a trailer for my two horses en without functionel braeks i am not allowed to drive with it on the dutch freeway if anywone can help me i am most applied yhe car is from 1975

Aren't the brakes on these, the same as a MK1/2

Does it use shoes/drums or discs/pads

Drums all round and if the 16' wheel version......

There are no brake parts available new in UK

Classic brake specialists can refurbish the wheel cylinders and....

There may be a Commercial brake supplier that will bond new linings but...

Be sitting down when you hear the prices...

Hi I am Richard from the Netherlands as well an I own a A series truck chassis cabin built as a camper.
The van is a 1980's A0406, four cilinder diesel engine 2.4, five speed gear box, axle ratio 4.63, 14 inch rims and drum brakes front and rear.The camper part is built in aluminium

I own a transit mk1 125 single wheel rear axle with 6 wheel lugs and the biggest brakes for the transit availeble as well, they are not identical with the A series.
the drum size in diameter will be the same, but the with of the drum/ schoe's is about half of the A series, and the calipers and whole set up are different as well.
The transit is a chassis cabine as well extended to long wheel base and built as a camper. Fitted with a v6 2.3 from a granada and a five speed gearbox from a sierra, final drive 5.13 and 14 inch rims.

@ E Groot: You can try v. leeuwen en v. Langen in Alkmaar, it's a break specialist, they might be able to help you.
What kind of A series do you own? 4 or 6 cilinder? and where did you purchase it? Just curious. As for the breaks you stated you are not allowed on the dutch freeways to drive with inaffective brakes, I think that will go beynd the dutch freeways as well....sorry could not resist.

can you explain better which parts you mean? accessboulds isnt a part name I recognize....

brake parts is a problem on the A series, but not impossible to sort out... but brakelines can be made up from standard parts or parts for oter vechiles.

The wheel cylinders can be refurbished. expensive, but then you have done that you dont need to think about it for many many years:)

brake linings can exchanged if the shoes are OK.

the drums can be machined if they are oval... but of course, there are a lot of bits and bobs which also wears out, and many of these have to be made by a machineshop, or modify other parts to work properly... BUT this is brakes, so you should be certain that things made works proerly before taking the vechile to the road again

i dont wish come across as stupid but i have had this same problem with my dodge 56 and if i could have found a guaranteed changer Axel from a modern truck i would of done that for more than one reason, is that a practical solution to the for a later ford running parts or not?
my cylinders were 70 each 6 in total to be recons at berry st edmunds. just a thort. what lovly trucks never seen one of them befor.
