Do I need an oil breather on my V4?

Postby welshrussell » Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:55 pm

Obscure question I know  Just wondering

But do I need a breather pipe coming off my oil filler cap :?:

The one I have in at the moment is just a black plastic one with a wire filter in it.

Here's a pic of the filler cap:

The filler cap with its wire gauze filter doubles as an air inlet or outlet depending on how buggered the engine is.The early engines had a pipe going in to the cap.
The two set ups affect the air/fuel mixture differently.
The one you have is the correct one for your engine.

Ooops sorry

Yes, Fred confirmed I didn't need one - sorry - I should have said

Cheers Mark and Kevin, I was just not sure after seeing other oil caps with breathers on, I thought mine might be missing it :o :D
