converting rhd to lhd

Postby cato » Mon Dec 14, 2009 9:33 am

I need to convert an 2001 Transit 350 from rhd to lhd , can anyone offer advice or assistance. I am in Spain.
Please dont suggest buying a lhd drive as in this instance it is not the practical thing to do.
Thanks in advance

I would suggest its not a practical thing to do (though I suspect its possible) and in reality you would probably need a LHD donor for it to be financially viable

I would either suggest living with RHD or searching for a LHD (even though you say its not practical)

Just out of interest, why do you need to change the drive side?

You would not believe the number of LHD vehicles here in the UK.

fuel filter as to be moved to the other side as as its in the way of were you will need to put the brake servo, the gear leaver will have to be moved to make it lean towards the drivers side

If you want it to be registered as a Spanish van, you just need to fit LHD headlights to it, then it should be OK (as long as it passes their tests etc).

you cannot register a rhd van in spain unless you have 360 degree vision ie side windows they wont even let you register a rhd pickup just in case you put a box on the back and lose the all round vision.
